Bertha Kennet Road (County Road #45), Madison County, Montana

Bertha Kennet Road Summary

This road in Madison County has been encroached by a landowner via locked gates. The road bifurcates creating a path where the original road was, and a path where the current use of the road is. Both branches are locked.

The road was reviewed by the Madison County road review committee and found to be petitioned and established in 1897. A long-time PLWA member filed a formal complaint to the County Attorney and Commissioners. A survey was completed and there seems to still be some confusion on which of the road alignments should be used. PLWA and interested parties are waiting to hear back from the Commissoners on the next steps for this locked county road.
