Eskay Road Summary

We have now received two complaints from hunters about a gate on Eskay Road blocking access to the BLM lands beyond. At the time, it appeared the county was grating the roads. PLWA reached out to the BLM, who stated since the gate was not directly on BLM lands or a road that they manage, they would not get involved.

PLWA followed up with the county commissioners who stated the county road ends at the gate in question and county maintenance does not occur beyond it. We were able to obtain a road resolution from the clerk and recorder that concurs with the commissioner’s statement. We are currently looking into the validity and legality of that resolution.
